VETA is a small, founder-led brand rooted in the belief that fewer, better-made pieces can support a more intentional way of living.
We are interested in the dualities that shape human experience - movement and rest, softness and strength, aspiration and acceptance.
We are not fully formed, and we do not pretend to be. What we hold to is a point of view: thoughtful design, conscious growth, and a commitment to learning as we go.
Our Material Story
When we started VETA, we thought we knew which materials were good and which were bad. Then we learned it was more complicated than that. The industry often speaks in absolutes. We now know the reality is not that simple.
Materials aren't absolutes. Almost every blanket statement the category trades in - "natural is better," "synthetic is worse" - skips the parts that complicate the answer.
Every material decision involves tradeoffs. Cotton, for instance, is closer to nature and less processed. It also takes a significant amount of water to produce and wears out faster. Polyester is petroleum-based. It is also more durable, which can extend the life of the garment.
We choose materials garment by garment, based on how a piece is meant to move, feel, and live over time. The right fabric for a training legging is not the right fabric for a layering sweatshirt. The choice follows the garment, not the other way around.
We’re not interested in easy answers or absolute thinking. We’re committed to beautiful materials, thoughtful design, and continuing to evolve as better information and better options emerge to support a healthy, intentional life.
Every VETA piece is ethically made with care in Sri Lanka, and we do not use forever chemicals (PFAS) in our products - ever.
Fit Philosophy
Fit should be exceptional, intentional, and consistent. That’s the standard.
For VETA, fit begins with real human bodies. Our sizing comes from actual body measurements, not from the vanity sizing the industry has settled into.
Because of that, our fit may run differently than what you're used to - our size guide is the place to start.
Precision matters as much as fit itself. Tighter manufacturer tolerances, pre-shrunk fabric, consistency from one run to the next - the details that help a garment fit consistently over time. That's the standard we're building toward.
Our long-term goal is something more thoughtful than traditional sizing systems. As we learn more - from the data, from how things wear, and from your feedback - we'll widen the range of fits we offer and design specifically for body types the category has overlooked. Over time, we hope to build a sizing experience that moves away from constant compromise and feels more personal, flexible, and precise.
We're not there yet. We're on the way, and we'd like you to join us for the ride. If you have a question about sizing, or feedback on how something fits, we want to hear from you at connect@withveta.com.
Responsibility
We think carefully about the language we use. We believe “sustainability” has become too broad a term in apparel, and we find ourselves returning to the word “responsibility” - a word that feels clearer about what we owe and to whom.
In apparel, the choice of partner determines most of what responsibility actually means. We choose manufacturing partners whose values match ours, both in how they treat the planet and in how they treat the communities they're part of. A lot of our work as it relates to responsibility depends on theirs.
Our partner for the launch collection is MAS, in Sri Lanka - a family founded, world class manufacturer we chose for their aligned view on quality and environmental responsibility, as well as how they treat the people and communities they work with.
We make fewer, better pieces. Less is the point - overproduction is the biggest contributor of waste in apparel, and we'd rather lose sales than make clothes nobody will wear. This approach isn’t revolutionary. What’s rare is choosing it when it may come at the expense of faster growth or higher profit.
To us, responsibility is not a marketing strategy. It’s the part of the work we believe is owed.
On Pricing and Impact
We believe fewer, better-made things can have greater long-term value than constant replacement and overproduction. That begins with the materials we choose, the way our garments are made, and our commitment to creating pieces designed to live with you over time.
Our pricing reflects the kind of business we hope to build - one that creates enough margin not only to sustain thoughtful production, but to support movement initiatives connected to mental health and community wellbeing.
We don’t see impact as separate from business. We believe it’s shaped by the choices a business makes, including where resources go and who they support.
